Movie Studio Tour
I can honestly say that I liked the other tours better, and the main reason is it was easier to access their website and see the tour. On Warner Bros. website it took a lot of t time to find the video and then you had to watch many different one to actually get to see stuff. Now the Ellen Show Tour was hilarious, but it still was inconvenient to find on the website. The other tours had a clear advantage in accessibility and information provided in the videos.
Weather Channel Tour
The weather channel tour was very interesting, however, I have to admit I liked the New York Times tour better. I will admit that the weather channel tour was very interative and explained what everything was, which was beneficial, but the videos that the times tour provided were so much more interesting. I liked getting to learn the though process they went though when building the building and also seeing how it functioned with people working with it. If the weather channel tour had videos like the times tour did, I believe I would have enjoyed it a lot more.
Times Tour
The New York Times new building is defiantly something you would not find in Manhattan, Ks. It is an elegant build in the heart of New York City. It was interesting to take this tour because you got to see many things that even if you was in New York City you most likely would not see. You got the see the 3 main entrances into the building and what you could see from the street. Along with this you their garden that had in the middle of the building. Also the tour took you to different levels so you got to see what people were experiencing when they went to work everyday. And I thought the most interesting part was when they showed their cafeteria and how it had two levels and you were able the see the Hudson river.
Recording Studio Tours
The recording industry is a very unique industry, however, like any industry everyday there is being new technology released. Due to this it is hard for a single person or small recording company to stay up to date with technology. This is were recording studios come into play, a rather large company owns all the updated equipment and they space. So as a musician you just have to come into the studio pay a fee and you get to record your music on new updated equipment. This is what I find fascinating, recording studios are making a business out of helping people fulfill their dreams.
State of the Media
While looking that the state of the media website I was completely shocked the the viewers who watch local TV is decreasing. Now I know that many people watch cable TV, but growing up in a farm family we never have cable TV. My parents could not figure out why you would pay for TV when you did not have the time to watch it. So we just have the local TV channel, and I can honestly say growing up with just that has probably made me a harder worker, who is less dependent on TV for entertainment. While the website shows many statistics about media, its noticeable that the local sources of media is what is hurting during the changes media have been undergoing.
Internet Safety
Internet safety is a growing concern with children having access at a younger age, and having the knowledge to do many different things on the computer. I found these websites very interesting, and a smart tactic. The makers of these games made them fun, interactive, and with a goal in mind. When children take part in these games they are learning valuable lessons, while also enjoying themselves. However, I do believe that more than just allowing them to play these games needs to be done to ensure their safety. Parents and Teacher will need to remind children of the ideas they learned in the games to ensure they remember what they have learned, and use it when they are allowed to use the computer. By reenforcing what they have already learned it shows that it is an important topic.

Film Review
The Great Train Robbery film of 1903 was a very unique experience. Not only because it was black and white, but mainly because they only sound throughout the movie was music that was played. I think at one time this would been a very fun form of entertainment with you friends to make up what was actually being said. But for me today it was slightly hard to watch and for reasons that are probably my own fault. It takes a lot to pay attention and to understand the crucial parts of what are happening. It is easy to understand the main points but it’s the little things that happen that I would like to understand better. However, the film was certainly a unique experience to have.
Blue Store or Redbox?
I am a Redbox person, however I do not use it regularly. I really like Redbox because it is a spur of the moment business that when you feel the need to watch a movie that you do not have at home rather cheaply you can always adventure to your nearest Rebox and select a movie. This is convenient because there are many around town and are open 24/7 so when ever the mood strikes you can get a movie. Since I am a normal college kid and do not always plan things I can easily use Redbox.
Gather Around
Since, the radio was out years before the television I do believe that I could spend a decent amount of time listening to different radio shows. There was never any other portable entertainment until this time so it was like a reward. The old time radio shows where actually very funny, and interesting. They allowed you to use your imagination in a different and creative way. Now if they radio came out after television I do not know if I could listen to it as much because I already knew television, and it would be hard to migrate away from it.
Napster or iTunes
I am an iTunes user all the way. My love for apple products started with the iPod, then to the MacBook, and now my iPad. I believe the reason I love iTunes so much is that it works so well with all my technology, and lets me access all my music, videos, and movies from any of my devices. If I was not such a believer in my apple products, I could easily see myself using Napster. But since I am already hooked on iTunes, Napster does not have a chance.
The end of paper?
Personally I believe Newspapers are slowly dying in their original form. In todays age many people have digital devices that allows them to receive the same information and many times the same article more conveniently and even free. I have an iPad and can honestly say that I usually then only paper I read in the USA Today on my iPad. Granted when I go home I do read my parents subscription of the Grass & Grain, however, it is a trade newspaper and it could have an advantage compared to standard newspapers since it targets farm families and they are usually more loyal to a newspaper and less towards technology.

Lets Ban Books
Personally, I am against the act of banning book. I love to read. Most the things you read in books are not real, however, it does increase your imagination and lets you think in a different way. By banning books you are trying to control the perception of how people view things. In the case of the book Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, the Illinois Police Association wanted the book banned because it portrayed the police as being pigs. First of all, its childish of the association to be concerned with how they are portrayed in a children's fiction book. This is childish because in elementary school we learned the definition of fiction while at the library and it states that it is about imaginary events or people. Moving on the the ban of the dictionary which I also find stance that the state of California banned two different versions because of how it defined inappropriate topics. This is still no reason for the ban, kids will eventually find out everything and the meanings so its better if it is appropriately explained to them the it would not be such a big deal when they find out the meanings of things.

Poor Richard
While looking at Wit and Wisdom from Poor Richards Almanack by Benjamin Franklin I found many sayings that were true, but the one I liked the best was "Its better to take many injuries, than to give one.". I really liked this quote because it makes you think about how you should care more about other people than you do yourself. I believe that this is something many people that are our age have a problem with, and do not like by it because many of them care more about themselves than they do others. This is a quote that more people should think about, because if they did than there would be a big difference in the world we live in today.

Social Interaction
Since technology has grown so fast recently, the question is the internet a form of social interaction, is a big one. However, I do not know if there is a right answer for that because it depends on what you are doing on the internet. If you are communicating via Skype then I would say that it is defiantly a form of social interaction. I would also say that being on social media websites, and emailing is also a form of social interaction in just a different way. However, just surfing the internet and reading the news I do not believe is a form of social interaction because you are not interacting with any one person.
CBS Thought
After watching the CBS video on how technology has changed and expanded in the recent years, it makes you think about how the people publicly using the media have changed too. When you are reading and article or a book, one that you just can not put down, it is usually written by someone who has the same desire for the topic they writing about. If that person does not have a passion for what they are doing than most likely they will not put there best effort forth. Also a person has to have knowledge of the topic they are writing about to make a clear and truthful article. I honestly believe that the best stories to read are the ones where the writer has a passion about the topic they are promoting.

Media Junkie
I honestly can say that I depend on technology to keep me busy everyday. When I thought about it, it was way worse than I first thought and its even worse during the school year.
Like every other college kid in this world I am on Facebook and Twitter at least once a day on an average and even more on some days. Now this was something I knew when I thought about how much time I spend with media. However, I never took into consideration all the time that I spend of the Internet researching for my classes, the time I spend listening to my iPod on the walk to classes, and also the time I spend reading books on my iPad. After thinking about all this I wonder what the future will be like if we already depend on technology and media as much as we do now.
A bonus for me is that we do not have T.V. at our house here in Manhattan, so I do not watch it. However, I now rely on the Internet more to keep my self updated on current events, the weather, and even sports. And it does give me more time to spend with other medias.
In conclusion I am blown away by the amount of time I spend with media.
